Heritage Inn hotels provides update on union negotiations in Saskatoon and Moose Jaw
Heritage Inn hotels submits latest proposal and looks forward to continued discussions with UFCW Local 1400
Saskatoon, SK (November 9, 2023) – Today, Heritage Inn hotels provided an update on union negotiations with UFCW Local 1400 (The Union) that represents Heritage Inn union members in both Saskatoon and Moose Jaw. Since summer, negotiations have stalled with The Union however close to 80 per cent of employees remain working.
In June, government-assisted mediated bargaining ended for Saskatoon followed by Moose Jaw in July 2023. It was not until October 2023 that the Heritage Inn hotels received a comprehensive offer from the UFCW.
As of current, negotiations for a Moose Jaw collective agreement have not resumed as the Union made the decision to negotiate the Saskatoon collective agreement first. Heritage Inn hotels was not consulted on this decision to move ahead with Saskatoon first. Both hotels are priorities for Heritage Inn hotels.
Negotiations for Saskatoon have continued throughout October and this past Friday, November 3, Heritage Inn hotels has submitted a comprehensive counterproposal for Saskatoon and is actively waiting on a reply from The Union. Heritage Inn hotels has proposed three dates in early December to resume bargaining, with a goal to discuss both hotels.
Heritage Inn hotels is committed to continuing amicable discussions with The Union and looks forward to a resolution.
