Saskatoon features the Ukrainian Museum of Canada, where visitors can learn about the immigration and culture of Ukrainian people. It also features one of North America’s largest Ukrainian ethnic textile collections. The German Cultural Centre, also in Saskatoon, is a must visit for discovering authentic German cuisines, such as grilled bratwurst and pork schnitzel.
Wanuskewin Heritage Park explores the culture of the Northern Plains Indians. Adventures such as overnight tipi camping are fun options for those who really want to immerse themselves into this fascinating culture. The Mennonite Heritage Museum gives visitors the chance to learn about these pioneers of Saskatchewan who immigrated due to the risk of persecution in their homeland. Getting the chance to have lunch in an old style train car is one of the unique parts of this museum. Metis history and culture can be experienced at Batoche National Historic Site.
The prairie City of Humboldt is an intriguing piece of history that deserves to be explored. European Settlers are to thank for this location, which still features early landmarks like a one-room schoolhouse, a general store, and more. Take a trip a few minutes down Highway 5 from Humboldt to check out the Village of Muenster and see the stunning St. Peters Cathedral. The life-sized murals inside the cathedral will be a highlight of that trip. Discover the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Rama, a religious gathering place for a number of different cultures, which hosts select religious services throughout the year in Polish, Ukrainian, and English.
